| 凤仙花科 Balsaminaceae 双子叶植物纲蔷薇亚纲的一科。肉质草本。单叶互生或对生。花两性，两侧对称，萼片3～（5），最下1片延长成距，或稀无距，花瓣5，侧生2瓣常相连，上边1片常直立；雄蕊5；子房5室，胚珠多数；蒴果，稀为浆果，状核果。有凤仙花属、水角属2属。全科有900种以上，主产亚洲及非洲热带，少数产温带地区。中国有2属200余种，主要分布西南部。多生于潮湿及山林沟谷或溪边。本科中的多种凤仙花色泽美丽、鲜艳，可栽培观赏。常见的有凤仙花，又称指甲花，原产印度、马来西亚和中国南部，世界各地都有栽培。花色多变，园艺品种很多。凤仙花全草及花、种子可入药，有活血通经、软坚消积、祛风止痛、活血化瘀、消肿解毒的功效。原产东非的玻璃翠茎肉质翠绿，透亮；花色鲜艳、美丽，扦插易活，是华北各省区常见的观赏植物。
