黄淮平原

    位于中国河南省东部、山东省西部黄河以南及安徽省、江苏省淮河以北。是华北平原的南部。主要由黄河、淮河下游泥沙冲积而成。地形平坦,仅徐州地区略见小丘。西部和南部山麓平原,海拔大多在80米左右;中部平原,海拔多在35~80米之间;东部滨海一带,海拔仅2~3米。平原中多低洼区,湖泊众多,分布在淮河中下游一带。山东丘陵的西部和南部边缘,有著名的京杭运河将这些湖泊沟通,成为中国南北水路交通要道。历史上黄河在平原上多次泛滥改道,从兰考经商丘、徐州到淮阴的黄河故道两侧多沙地、沙丘,面积6000平方千米。1949年后,在淮河上游已建成大中小水库近5000座;在中游利用湖洼地修建蓄洪滞洪工程;下游开辟入海入江通道。现平原上河渠纵横,涵闸密布,稻麦两熟。产小麦、杂粮、棉花,为中国重要农业区。
