Kobresia

   莎草科的一属。多年生草本,具三棱形秆和禾叶状叶。穗状花序顶生,圆柱状,顶生小穗为雄性,侧生小穗为雄雌顺序或雌性,雄小穗或雌小穗有花1朵,或在两性小穗中基部1朵为雌花,上部为雄花;花单性,无花被;雄花具3枚雄蕊及1枚鳞片;雌花由1枚雌蕊和包着雌蕊的先出叶及鳞片所构成;先出叶边缘仅部分合生。不为果囊状。小坚果双凸状或三棱形。该属50余种,广布于北温带。其中约40种产中国,主要见于西藏、青海、四川、云南等省区的高原和高山。嵩草属植物常成片组成高山草甸,例如在青藏高原北部的大面积嵩草草甸,为当地牦牛、藏羊的优良牧草,主要种类有高山嵩草和矮生嵩草等。
