    树木修枝是造林绿化扶育管理措施之一。通过修枝人为的“助、减、缓”等技术措施调节、控制通风与透光,给树木生长发育创造适宜条件,造就通直干形、冠形优美的优质材质。
    修枝应根据林种与树种的不同、造林密度与造林目的差异而采取不同的方法。
    针叶树种造林时,可修掉残枝、死枝、多头枝,只保留一个直立枝。造林后5“15年修掉过密的枝条,修去侧枝1-2轮,每隔4—5年修一次。杨树用于营造防护林与用材林,应及时选留主干上的中心枝作为领导枝,将其竞争枝及时除掉,摘、指侧芽,修掉多余的侧枝,促进高、粗的生长。城乡四旁绿化与城市绿化小区树木的修枝要讲究树型美观大方,别具一格,适宜观赏。对于已截顶的柳树,应有目的培养成“四面斗”或“三股撑”形,避免有两个主干的“料杈”形。
    修剪切口要光滑,严防壁裂。茬高以1厘米—2厘米为宜。过高过低都会影响创面愈合和树木的生长。修剪季节以早春或晚秋和冬季为宜。早春以树液流动前为宜。如树木发芽时修剪,树体水分蒸腾快,失水,消耗养分多,不利于树木生长。有的速生树种,如杨、柳等也可以夏季修枝。但是,注意不要在阴雨天修枝,以免伤口浸水,感染病害。
    修枝要注意“冬剪枝,夏控侧”。即冬季实行强树重剪,弱树轻剪,重点把直立强壮的竞争枝从基部修掉。夏季实行强旺枝重控,控强留弱,把树势调整均衡,掌握强侧打头,壮枝重剪,弱枝轻剪、小枝多留的原则,以达到突出主干,促进树木加快生长的修剪目的。
