In this review,recent advances in mechanism of gametophytic self-incompatibility in Pears,including expression of self-incompatibility,specific expression and cloning of self-incompatibility genes(S-gene),purification and characteri-zation of the stylar protein(S-glycoprotein)of S-gene,crystallization and function of S-glycoprotein,estimation of S-geno-type are summarized.
