雅鲁藏布江大峡谷热带山地气候带和自然带的分布，达到了北半球水平分布的最北界和垂直分布的最高限，即北纬29度30分，海拔2000米左右。这是沿雅鲁藏布江大峡谷通道自南向北强大的水气输送影响的结果。在北半球，热带气候带和自然带的分布平均在北纬23度30分，海拔1000米以下。然而，在雅鲁藏布江大峡谷，由于强大的自南向北的水汽输送的影响，使得这儿的热带山地气候带和自然带向北推进了6个纬度，并分布在更高的山地，许多典型的热带动物和植物都可以在大峡谷中发现。例如，爬行类动物中的蟒蛇、眼镜王蛇，鸟类中的棕颈犀鸟，哺乳类动物中的孟加拉虎、长尾叶猴，昆虫中的端齿棒鼻白蚁、金印度秃蝗，真菌中的黄白蚁伞、环柄香菇和大锁银耳，高等植物中的千里榄仁、阿丁枫和小果紫微。
