禾本科地毯草属的一个种，学名Axonopus comoressus (Swartz) Beauv.又名热带地毯草，多年生草本植物。原产于热带美洲。中国台湾、广东已有引入，并有少量栽培。
根浅。茎匍匐、扁平，草层高15-60cm。叶片长4-15cm，宽4-10mm，总状花序常2-5枚，小穗两侧稍隆起，几无柄，成两行排列于穗轴的一侧，种子细小，每千克约297万粒。喜热带、亚热带潮湿气候。适于生长在地下水位较高的砂土或砂壤土上，在肥沃的砂壤土、壤土上生长最好。匍匐茎伸展迅速，茎节生根萌芽成新株，形成密致的草地，适于放牧，耐牧性强。一般用葡匐茎种植；或用种子播种，单播时每公顷播种5-10kg。每公顷年产鲜草约20t。干物质含粗蛋白质9.2%，粗脂肪1.6%，粗纤维26.4%，无氮浸出物50.0%。
