Aimed at the situation of great water consumption on maize field in the arid area of Minqin county in Shiyang River basin, using the experiment data of 4 years, the paper analyzes the effect of alternative furrow irrigation on crop growth and water use of film mulched maize, and illustrates the feasibility of extending the technique of alternative furrow irrigation in desert oasis area.
