| 盘羊 Ovis；sheep 偶蹄目牛科盘羊属的通称。因雄性角呈螺旋状盘曲而得名。头部大，所以又称大角羊。体型粗壮，体长1.2～1.8米，尾长7～15厘米，肩高65～125厘米，体重可达230千克；雄性角长可超过1.25米，具明显横棱，基部周长25厘米，雌性角小，向后外侧弯曲，但不呈盘状；全身毛色棕灰，有些种类颈部具长毛。 栖息于高原、高山或丘陵地带，善于在崎岖难行的岩石上奔跑。常结成十余只的小群活动。成年雄羊经常在高而视野开阔的岩石上休息镃望，视觉敏锐，发现危险时发出警告，群羊即以极快的速度沿着陡峭的岩石逃遁。多在晨昏活动，冬季时常因大雪难于觅食而迁至较低的山谷。春季又返回高山。以草及灌木的嫩枝、叶为主要食物。秋季或初冬发情交配，雄性间常发生激烈的争斗。孕期150～180天 ，每胎产1～2仔。其中盘羊分布于欧亚大陆各山地，有9个亚种。加拿大盘羊分布于北美，有2个亚种。中国境内的盘羊分布于内蒙古、宁夏、甘肃、新疆、青海、西藏等省区，已被列为保护动物。家畜中的绵羊一般估计系由盘羊驯化而来，其化石曾在5000年前的人类遗址中发现。 |
