垦区农垦韵丫〕管辖的区域一其五沐是国有农场并包括各级农垦管理部门、’衣垦上_商建运服企枚和利一教丈化卫件等事住单通常以省、自;臼义、直辖市为单位划汗气认义，如黑生江垦区新疆垦区、北京垦区等。有时也把连片的国有农场群称作垦区，如新疆石河子垦区、辽宁大洼垦区等。垦区是随着国家开垦荒地、创建国有农场而形成的。由于国有农场多是在荒无人烟或人烟稀少的地方建立的，在开荒、生产的同时.还要兴办科技、教育、文化、卫生等各项社会性事业，并承担一部分政府管理职能，形成了一个小社会，成为具有生产经营和多方面社会管理和服务功能的区域。
