By Studing the developmental characteristics of purple forest soil (PFS) in Chishui, Guizhou province, this paper summarizes a method of dividing PFS profile, and settles the problems of the obscurity in the profile division and of the impossible comparison among each division result, providing a basis for the further study of PFS.
