该船现代化程度相当高，可进行远洋水文测量和海洋调查，也可利用船载小型艇只和两栖艇只在沿海水域、浅海区和江河中进行水文测量。船上设有化学实验室、物理实验室、水文分析室、照相室，配备有水下摄像机，精密水文、气象仪器，以及许多．用来对海洋进行物理、化学、生物学、地质学研究的设备及若干数据处理机。载有6艘水文测量小艇。3部声纳和2部回声探深仪的终端显示设备集中在一个舱室中。桥楼甲板室中建有动力装置遥控站。
