点状融合是指各中心城市相邻县镇加速城市化发展，而逐渐
从次级中心发展为中心城市，并通过蔓延扩散或点状扩散后与原
中心城市融合，形成更大一级的城市经济圈。点状融合规律是大
城市带和世界经济圈形成的必然过程。由于大城市发展的地域极
限，使得某些大城市经济圈发展到一定程度后，不得不大量发展
次级中心，或者由于其他多种原因使次级中心迅速发展，最终都
会促进城市经济圈之间、城市经济带之间相互融合。
