| 工具书 references 广泛汇集某一方面的知识或资料，按特定的方法加以编排，以供检索查考之用的图书。其特点是内容广泛、系统、概括；编排体例与方法特定；目的与功用主要是供临事查检。工具书是随着科学、文化、教育事业的进步而产生和发展的。中国周代的《史籀》、《周谱》、《山海图》为以后的工具书奠定了基础。巴比伦人制作的泥板地图、古埃及记载有关天文、气象的年历等都是古代工具书的萌芽。工具书有以提供知识为主的，如字典、词典、百科全书、政书等；有以提供事实、资料为主的，如年鉴、手册、名录、表谱、地图、图录、类书等；有以提供文献信息线索为主的，如书目、索引等。传统工具书的载体形式多为书本式，计算机技术兴起以后，出现了大量的数据库、检索系统等非书本式载体，对工具书的编撰工艺、检索技术的变革产生了深远影响。 |
