为豆科植物槐的根，植物形态详"槐花"条。
【药材】
干燥的根粗壮而呈圆柱形，略弯曲。外表黄色或黄褐色。质坚硬。断面黄白色，木质，纤维性。
【化学成分】
含d-山槐素葡萄糖甙和dl-山槐素。
【功用主治】
治痔疮，喉痹，蛔虫病。 ①《别录》："主喉痹寒热。" ②《医林纂要》："洗痔，杀虫。" ③《昆明药植调查报告》："健胃。驱蛔虫。"
【用法与用量】
内服：煎汤，1～2两。外用：煎水洗。
【选方】
①疗五痔：煮槐根洗之。(《姚僧坦集验方》) ②治女子痔疮：槐花根二两，葛菌二两。炖猪大肠服。(《重庆草药》)
