Since the outburst of SARS in 2003,there have been three great changes of the crisis coverage and its academic research in China.

Crisis coverage is an important topic facing Chinese media in the modern society.

Media is the watcher of the society,the degree and the way that crisis coverage not only plays it\' s greatly concern on the stability and functional development of the society at large,but pays an important role in enhancing the clean and efficient operation of governments,and improving individual \' s crisis consciousness.

Crisis Report of Chinese Mass Media after the 1990s;

The concept of crisis communication and public psychology, serving as thedouble checks and balances of crisis report, help the crisis take a favorable turn, andachieve a balance by the mutual constraints.

According to the four phase model,this paper analyses new features of the media coverage in the 2008 earthquake in Sichuan of China and new problems that should call the media\'s attention,such as preventing measures before crisis,different media channels working interactively during crisis outburst,and the way of Chinese crisis reporting and that of western counties.
