有机膨润土是天然蒙脱土(主要是水辉石和膨润土两种)与鎓盐，如季铵盐，进行离子交换反应后成亲有机性化合物，适用于有机体系。白色或灰白色粉末，无毒，无味，易溶于烃类溶剂，加少量极性溶剂呈厚稠凝胶。
用作溶剂型胶粘剂的增调剂，参考用量5～10phr。直接加入有机膨润土，投拌lh后加入少量(2%～3％)极性溶剂(甲醇或乙醇等)。贮存于阴凉、干燥的库房内，防潮。
