将跨期摊提费用按照一定的方法计入各期成本。跨期摊提费用指应由多个会计期间共同负担的费用。费用在发生或支付时需加以记录，而费用分配则以受益，则应在各受益期间分摊，不能全部计入本期成本。因此在月末进行成本核算时，必须根据日常核算资料进行调整分配。需要调整分配的内容有：（1）以前月份已经发生和支付，应由本期负担的待摊费用；（2）本期发生或支付，应由本期和以后月份共同负担的待摊费用；（3）本期发生或支付，已经在以前月份预提的费用；（4）尚未发生或支付，应由本期预提的费用。
费用的摊销和计提，影响到各期产品成本和利润的正确性，应当严格加以管理和控制，不能随意摊提。待摊费用的分摊期限，一般不应超过两年。预提费用一般应在年内结清，多提或少提数额应在期末加以调整结清。结于预提费用和待摊费用，可设置相应账户进行核算，实际发生或支付的费用记入借方，摊销或预提的费用记入贷方。
