物种特征:描述：体略大（27厘米）的蓝色及褐色翡翠鸟。颏、喉及胸部白色；头、颈及下体余部褐色；上背、翼及尾蓝色鲜亮如闪光（晨光中看似青绿色）；翼上覆羽上部及翼端黑色。 虹膜－深褐色；嘴－深红；脚－红色。 叫声：飞行或栖立时发出响亮的kee kee kee kee尖叫声，也作沙哑的chewer chewer chewer声。 分布范围：中东、印度、中国、东南亚、菲律宾、安达曼斯群岛及苏门答腊。 分布状况：于中国北纬28°以南包括海南岛在内的大部地区为相当常见的留鸟，可至海拔1200米。在台湾为迷鸟。 习性：性活泼而喧闹，捕食于旷野、河流、池塘及海边。
