作家、翻译家。原名李尧棠，四川成都人。1927年留学法国。回国后曾主编《文学丛刊》等。抗战时期与茅盾等合编《呐喊》、《烽火》等杂志，宣传抗日救国。建国后曾任中国作协主席、国际笔会中国中心主席，主编《收获》、《上海文学》等刊物。著有长篇小说《家》、《春》、《秋》，中篇小说《憩园》、《寒夜》，散文集《随想录》等。译有俄国赫尔岑的回忆录《往事与随想》。有《巴金文集》。
