形态特征：桦木科鹅耳枥属乔木植物，高10-15米。叶长圆形或卵状长圆形，长9-15厘米，宽3-4.5厘米，顶端长尾状，边缘具重锯齿，每2个大锯齿之间有4枚小齿。5月开花，雄花序单生;苞鳞披针形，顶端微凹。果序总状下垂，长4-10厘米，宽2-3厘米;序梗长2-3厘米;果苞在序轴上排列疏松，长1.5-2厘米，3裂，内侧基部的小裂片近卵形，内折，外侧基部的裂片呈齿裂状，中裂片斜卵状披针形，外缘具数枚粗齿，内缘全缘。小坚果宽卵形。
生境分布:生于海拔1900-3100米的常绿阔叶林中。分布于我国华东、华中、华南和西南各省区。印度至喜马拉雅山区、中南半岛北部也有。
