性质:最简单的全电子从头计算方法。该方法从路易斯电子结构模型出发,令每对电子占据一个完全球对称的高斯轨道:,这些轨道分为内层电子轨道、孤对电子轨道和成键电子轨道,但不包含非占据的虚轨道。称由这些轨道构成基组为绝小基集或路易斯基集。占据轨道直接构成的单斯莱特(Slater)行列式波函数描述体系的状态。通过非线性变分法求解体系的定态薛定谔方程以确定轨道的位置和大小,从而得到平衡几何构型和电子结构。FSBO方法不引进任何经验参数,用严格计算的各类分子积分值直接求得体系总能量而不作自洽迭代,并能给出较准确的平衡几何构型和与传统化学概念相吻合的定域轨道信息。但由于模型简单而不能获得精确的电子总能量,并且不适于描述大π键体系,对大分子和含重金属元素的分子,需要优选的参数太多,使该方法的应用受到限制。
