性质：又称似稳态法。是化学反应动力学中为建立一些复杂反应的速率方程而使用的一种动力学近似处理方法。在复杂反应中，如果某种中间物M在生成之后极易消耗，不能积累，其浓度cM仅为很小值，则M是不稳定中间物(unstable intermediate)。可以近似认为其浓度cM几乎不随时间t而变化，此时称M处于稳态。利用稳态时dcM/dt≈0，在对该复杂反应进行动力学处理时，可将求解不稳定中间物的浓度表示式以及推导复杂反应速率方程时所遇到的很难求解的微分方程转变为易于求解的代数方程，从而简便地导出中间物的浓度表示式及复杂反应速率方程。
