经过放置和严格过滤，调整其氯度约为1938‰的大洋海水。密封在玻璃安瓿中。国际上以此作为测定海水的氯度和盐度的统一标准。为使用方便，有的国家据此制备了本国的标准海水。中国标准海水由青岛海洋大学制备，其氯度为17‰～19‰。
