recrystallization 

   将晶体溶于溶剂或熔融以后,又重新从溶液或熔体中结晶的过程。又称再结晶。重结晶可以使不纯净的物质获得纯化,或使混合在一起的盐类彼此分离。重结晶的效果与溶剂选择大有关系,最好选择对主要化合物是可溶性的,对杂质是微溶或不溶的溶剂,滤去杂质后,将溶液浓缩、冷却,即得纯制的物质。混合在一起的两种盐类,如果它们在一种溶剂中的溶解度随温度的变化差别很大,例如硝酸钾和氯化钠的混合物,硝酸钾的溶解度随温度上升而急剧增加,而温度升高对氯化钠溶解度影响很小。则可在较高温度下将混合物溶液蒸发、浓缩,首先析出的是氯化钠晶体,除去氯化钠以后的母液在浓缩和冷却后,可得纯硝酸钾。重结晶往往需要进行多次,才能获得较好的纯化效果。
