| 托勒密（约90～168） Ptolemaeus，Claudius；Ptolemy 古希腊地理学家，天文学家，数学家。曾译托勒玫、多禄某。生于埃及的托勒马达伊，卒于亚历山大城。长期进行天文观测。一生著述甚多。其中，《天文学大成》（又称《大综合论》13卷）主要论述了他所创立的地心说，认为地球是宇宙的中心，且静止不动，日、月、行星和恒星均围绕地球运动。此书被尊为天文学的标准著作，直到16世纪哥白尼的日心说发表，地心说才被推翻。另一重要著作《地理学指南》（8卷）主要论述地球的形状、大小、经纬度的测定，以及地图的投影方法，是古希腊有关数理地理知识的总结。书中附有27幅世界地图和26幅区域图，后人称之为托勒密地图。他制造了供测量经纬度用的类似中国浑天仪的仪器和角距仪；通过系统的天文观测，编有包括1000多颗恒星的位置表。对几何学也有研究。还著有《光学》（5卷）等。 |
