The Xietan landslide body can be regarded as an interbedded structure with three permeable layers (slope wash,landslide deposit deposit,and effected zone of the landslide) and two relatively impermeable layers (sliding zone and foundation rock),so it is important to consider the coupling action of seepage and stress in the slide to evaluate the stability of landslide.

According to our survey and analysis of water fetched from the Three Gorges Area from Yichang to Xietan,single factor exponent method and synthetic pollution index method were used to analyze,compare and evaluate the present situation of water quality.

On the basis of studying phase markers of lithology, paleontology and logging facies, it is considered that Baixiantan Formation belongs to braid river delta-lacustrine sedimentary system in studied area, the braid river delta sediment is distributed over the T_3b~1 sand group of Triassic Baixiantan Formation, which is composed of shallow lake subfacies, semi-deep lake-deep lake subfacies.
