龙潭森林公园位于天目湖南8公里处，全园占地面积约2万多亩。园内遍布着大片的毛竹、马尾松、栗树、茶树，把山上山下装扮得满目青翠。园中有一条长4公里的山道，山道两旁竹木参天，松叶铺地，映山红、白蔷薇等花草，点缀路边；途经海拔210米的下梅林，到达园内最高峰、海拔348米的60亩顶上，顿觉宽广。爬上望哨楼层，宜兴的横山水库、天目湖的湖光山色，似在画中，尽收眼底。公园附近原有清顺治年间兴建的千华寺，现存断墙残壁，但寺内的白玉兰、香园等树木，仍充满生机。
