| 异端裁判所 Inquisition 中世纪天主教教会审判镇压异端的司法机构。又译宗教法庭、宗教裁判所。1229年土鲁斯会议正式决定成立异端裁判所，教皇格列高利九世又发布通谕强调其设置，指定多明邦会修士担任裁判官。教皇为该所最高首脑并直接控制裁判官。其审判程序十分繁杂，量刑范围从禁食、没收财产、监禁、流放直至交付世俗法庭，而后者常判处极刑。该所对异端分子或异端嫌疑者用刑以及鼓励告密的做法使之声名狼藉，宗教改革后，异端裁判所失去权威，逐渐衰落。20世纪初，异端裁判所被罗马教廷改为圣职部，其主要职能是公布禁书目录，宣布对教徒的绝罚即开除教籍。
