| 自由体操 floor exercise 竞技体操项目之一。其成套动作由徒手体操和技巧动作组成，在规定的场地和时间内完成。大型比赛在12米×12米的弹性专用地板上进行。1911年男子自由体操被列为国际比赛项目。50年代男子自由体操以单纯的手翻和空翻类动作为主。60年代出现两周空翻和多周转体。70年代出现复合轴的旋空翻。80年代后期出现空翻3周和直体旋。女子自由体操在1950年第十二届世界体操锦标赛上被列为比赛项目。成套动作由技巧和各种转体、跨跳、舞蹈等动作组成。全部动作要高低起伏和谐统一，充分利用场地，并有音乐伴奏。20世纪50年代初女子自由体操以舞蹈动作为主。60年代出现空翻转体类型动作，并选用现代舞蹈和现代音乐。80年代初，出现空翻两周加转体类型动作，编排连接更加巧妙优美，在跟斗连串和难度上比男子发展更快。
