青岛双星雄鹰篮球队的前身是具有光荣历史的济南军区篮球队，多次获得全国联赛冠军,培养出穆铁柱、张斌、范斌等多名国家级选手，并代表国家和军队出访过瑞典、挪威、法国、韩国、东南亚等十几个国家。2003年,军队撤编，青岛双星集团出巨资买断，并决心打造一支全国一流职业篮球俱乐部。在2004年全国比赛中，双星队员勇猛顽强的比赛精神，快速多变的战术风格，准确的三分远投得到了球迷的喜爱和支持，获全国甲b联赛山东德州、滨洲两站冠军。2005年在全国cbl联赛中获第四名。队员平均身高1.98米，最高2.18米，有现役国青队员5人，有多名队员在甲a打球。最近又引进几名强力内援，特别是前国青队员、身高2.18的付庆飞，他身体强壮，动作灵活，篮下威胁极大，是中国篮坛现今最高中锋，引人瞩目。又引进塞黑教练伊戈尔，全队冬训三个月，训练刻苦，正全力准备在2006年冲入cba联赛。
