A Treatise of Human Nature
    休谟的哲学著作。写于1732~1736年,全书3卷,1739年后分卷出版。作者试图把实验推理的方法推广应用于精神哲学,剖析人性中的理智和情感,建立一个新的科学体系 。第一卷阐述认识论,提出了他的不可知论和唯心主义学说 。第二卷以感觉性观点说明伦理学和美学问题,认为快乐的感觉是善和美的共同基础。第三卷论述快乐论、功利论的伦理学原理以及人性论、契约论的政治学原理。他提出支配人的生活的是意志、情感(或激情)而非理性,道德和政治的基础是“自利心”,以及同“自利心  ”相辅相成的“同情感”。出版后,由于公众反应冷淡  ,休谟对全书作了改写、修订。
