坪滩镇位于岳池县西南部，距岳池县城28公里，美丽的嘉陵江和即将建成的南渝高速公路贯穿境内，交通便捷，特产丰富，自然风光旖旎，为省级试点小城镇。
镇域属浅丘带坝地形，幅员面积43.24平方公里。全镇总人口40099人，其中农业人口35394 人，总户数11100户。耕地面积25692 亩。全镇有干部职工50人，其中公务员编制23人，政府工勤人员3人，事业单位编制24人；镇设立5个所室，即：党政办公室、财政所、民政所、计划生育办公室、安全生产办公室；设立4个服务中心，即：宣传文化服务中心、农业服务中心、村建环卫服务中心、计划生育服务中心；设立1个劳动保障事务所。
现辖26个村，一个社区。以优质农产品生产、加工和民间特色文化远近闻名。目前已建成的优质海椒为主的无公害蔬菜基地，种植面积上万亩，产品畅销省内外，并出口港台及日本、韩国、朝鲜等国家和地区。
