In order to investigate nootropic active chemical constituents of YIZHI compositae decoction, a kind of clinically proved recipe, compounds were isolated from the water extract of YIZHI compositae, bio-assayed with activities on anti-acetylcholinesterase (AchE).
益智复方汤主要是由何首乌、红参、淫羊藿3味药材按一定比例合煎而得，为临床验方，具有益肾助阳，补气安神，益智养精之功效。

夏草雌鸽补益汤
原料与制法：冬虫夏草10g，雌鸡1只，细盐、料酒、生姜末、味精各适量。洗净冬虫夏草，用清水浸泡120min；宰杀雌鸽，去毛、内脏与血，洗净。将雌鸽、冬虫夏草及已泡药的清水全部放入大瓦罐中，旺火烧沸，然后加料酒、细盐、生姜末，改小火，炖90min，起锅时加味精即成。
服法与功能主治：饮汤，吃肉与冬虫夏草，有条件者，可以常吃。此汤温中益肾，固精壮阳。适合于肾阳虚衰型女子性欲低下者服用，男性阳痿患者也可，但最好用雄鸽代替雌鸽。
