杨堤是阳朔的水上门户，又是漓江流入阳朔之后的第一个景区。尽管它是一个小小的乡镇，却是一个最美丽的地方。这里的山更青，水更绿。山体山形与桂林迥然不同，山形突兀，各具风姿；山体不再裸露，植被满山，绿荫覆盖，其江心倒影更令人陶醉。从乡吧岛、绣山彩壁、半边渡到月光岛、浪石、上龙、下龙，景点密布，一个接着一个，目不暇接。尤其是每到枯水季节，桂林断流，不能通航，而杨堤江段则畅通无阻，杨堤码头成了游人往返必经之路。所以，人们称杨堤是漓江上永不干涸的黄金水道。除沿江景点而外，杨堤乡境内许多地方都有让人百看不厌的风景。下山头村有“五子登科”、上下桃源有“桃园挂月”、地水洞中有“滴水穿石”刁嵅村里有“鵾鹏展翅”，古隘村边有“土塔夕照”。杨堤乡方圆102.8平方公里，平地不足10%，高大山峦遍布全境，地下河流水源丰富，是天工造就的“避暑山庄”。
