By way of analyzing the discussions abroad on representativeness in the creation of translation corpora,the author points out that the creation of an English-Chinese Translation Corpus should start with creation of the "core of core corpora" in the light of "prototypical translation" and that theoretical research should precede the actual enlargement of any English-Chinese Translation Corpus.
