社会模式(social model)解释和治疗精神疾病的一种模式。从社会学观点强调精神疾病主要是社会病理的反映，认为各种行为变态和心理变态与贫困、种族歧视、文化变革和其他社会应激明显相关。重大的生活变动、都市化(拥挤、贫困、歧视、人际关系疏隔)、低下社会阶层都可导致精神疾病发病率的增高。社会模式在现代精神疾病中影响最大的是人格障碍，因为人格障碍的许多症状是属于社会性的，即社会认为是有害的、破坏性的或者是违反文化道德的消极的东西。主张对精神疾病患者的治疗应当从只集中注意病人本身转移到注意整个社会，即应注重改善人们社会经济生活的社会活动，造成一个健康、公正的社会。 (江开达撰徐俊见审)
