【来源】
为豆科植物美花兔尾草的根。
【植物形态】
美花兔尾草，又名：蜈蚣草。 半灌木，高30～60厘米。茎粗，稍有分枝，被毛。单数羽状复叶，小叶5～7枚，少为9枚，小叶片线矩形，长6～12厘米，宽1～2厘米，先端狭尖，基部浑圆，上面中脉及基部边缘被毛，下面脉上密被毛。总状花序顶生，长圆筒形，长15～130厘米；苞片棕黄色，鳞片状，上部的长披针形，长约25毫米，被长毛，脱落；花梗长5～6毫米，每2枚靠拢在一起，被毛；花萼浅杯形，5深裂。被长毛，上部2片披针形，下部3片线形；花冠蝶形，紫蓝色，旗瓣长6～8毫米，圆形，基部具短爪，翼瓣长4～7毫米，耳形，基部有短耳，龙骨瓣与翼瓣等长，弯曲；雄蕊10，2体；雌蕊1，子房几无柄，花柱弯曲。荚果银铅色，3～5节，长约5毫米。花期10月前后。 生于山地阴湿处。分布广西、四川、云南、贵州等地。

【性味】
味甘，性温平，无毒。
【功用主治】
平肝补胃。治头晕心烦。
【用法与用量】
内服：煎汤，1～5钱。
【选方】
①治头晕，心烦：密马五钱，煎水服。 ②治饮食不振：密马二钱，八爪金龙一钱。煎水服(炖肉吃尤好)，日服二次。
