由于它的结晶度低，弹性大，呈橡胶状，同时又含有足够的起着物理交联作用的聚乙烯结品，因此具有热塑性弹性体的特点，所以也有将乙烯-醋酸乙烯共聚物称为热塑性乙烯-醋酸乙烯弹性体。白色或淡黄色粉状或粉状物，相对密度0．92-0．95，折射率1．480-1.5l0，脆性温度＜-71℃。EVA的性能与醋酸乙烯(VAC)含量和分子量(熔体指数MI)关系极大，当MI一定，VAC含量增高时．其弹性、柔软件、粘接性、相容性、透明性、溶解性均有所提高。VAC含量降低时,则性能接近于聚乙烯，刚性增大，耐磨性及绝缘性上升。若VAC含量固定，MI增加时，则软化点下降，表面光泽改善，强度有所降低，反之MI减小则分子量增大。能提高耐冲击性和耐应力开裂性。EVA树脂具有良好的柔软性，橡胶般的弹性，-50 ℃下仍有较好的可按性。透明性和光泽性好。良好的化学稳定性、耐老化、耐臭氧．无毒性。
用于制造热熔胶粘剂。贮存于阴凉、通风、干燥的库房内，防火、防潮。
