消费品存量调整假说
消费品存量调整假说由美国经济学家霍塔克和泰勒提出的一种消费函数理论。他们认为，以往的消费理论(如凯恩斯绝对收入假说、相对收入假说、持久收入假说、生命周期假说)只谈收入与消费的关系，而没有考虑到消费者已经持有的消费品存量这一因素。如果考虑到这一因素，收入与消费的关系就有所不同。消费品存量主要指耐用消费品存量，它分为理想的存量与实际的存量。理想的存量指每个消费者心中希望拥有的最佳的耐用消费品存量，实际的存量指消费者已经持有的耐用消费品存量。这两者的差额决定了消费者对耐用消费品的购买，而这一差额又取决于已有消费品的折旧率。每个消费者想通过现期支出调整消费品存量，使它保持某种均衡。如果某种消费品的实际存量与理想存量不一致，消费者就会购买该种消费品;如果实际的存量与理想的存量已经达到一致，那么即使消费者收入增加，他也不会再购买这种消费品。
