谓见到似乎是怪异的现象，不大惊小怪，安然不动，自然无事。本见于禅宗典籍。如《五灯会元·泐潭英禅师法嗣》：“见怪不怪，其怪自坏。”后俗语中多用作“见怪不怪，其怪自败。”如《红楼梦》第九四回：“贾政道：‘见怪不怪，其怪自败。’不用砍他，随他去就是了。”亦省为“见怪不怪“。如徐兴业《金瓯缺》第八章：“兄弟在东京住上三年，把棱角都磨平了，那时是见怪不怪，自然心平气和了。”（李明权）
