| 清教运动 Puritanism 16世纪中期英国圣公会内部的改革运动。因主张清除英国国教会内残留的天主教旧制和繁文缛节，提倡勤俭清洁的简朴生活，故名。清教运动的发动者为卡特赖特。运动后分为温和派与激进派。前者提倡从国教会内部改革，以实现净化教会为目的，在政治上主张君主立宪。后者主张采用长老制，甚至脱离国教会，简化仪式，放弃任何形式的偶像崇拜，在政治上提倡共和制。运动对英国革命起了极大的推动作用。 |
