According to the guiding principle of Bolshevik party s national policy,the Far East Republic worked out and implement a correct national policy which accorded with a local real situation,declared that all the nationalities were equal,gave autonomous right to local minorities,including the national tribes in the north,and set up a department of national affairs.

1920～1922年在苏俄贝加尔湖以东地区建立的民主共和国。亦称赤塔共和国。1920年初，红军打败了西伯利亚高尔察克军队(见苏俄国内战争)，控制了贝加尔湖以西地区,而太平洋沿岸大部分地区仍被日军占领。苏维埃政府决定在西伯利亚东部建立一个缓冲国，以暂时避免同日本干涉军直接发生冲突。远东共和国受俄共(布)中央远东局领导,形式上是一个议会制民主共和国。1920年4月6日，贝加尔地区劳动人民立宪代表大会正式宣告远东共和国成立。首都在上乌丁斯克,后迁至赤塔。1921年2月12日至4月27日，召开立宪会议,通过宪法,规定国家的最高权力机关是人民会议。会议通过选举产生了以俄国共产党员A.М.克拉斯诺晓科夫为首的政府。年底 H.М.马特维耶夫接任政府首脑。1922年2月,军事部长В.К.布柳赫尔(加仑)率领人民革命军攻入哈巴罗夫斯克（伯力），10月开进符拉迪沃斯托克（海参崴）。日本干涉军被迫撤离滨海地区。1922年11月15日，远东共和国并入苏俄。
