乞儿向火 比喻小人趋炎附势。
唐玄宗天宝年间，杨国忠专权。不少朝臣巴结他。大臣张九龄说这些人是“向火”的“乞儿”。意思是说，有一天火灭灰冷，一定会遭到冻裂身体之祸。见五代王仁裕《开元天宝遗事·向火乞儿》。比喻小人趋炎附势。清赵翼《青山庄歌》：“热客倚冰终日计，乞儿向火一群忙。”
