痴头道士，姓王，直隶人，极愚。亲亡乏食，困卧敝庐，无所为计。或与之钱，亦莫辨数之多寡。京邑陈道人收为徒，令日扫地拾柴，晚则课弥陀佛号数百，礼拜，炷香为度。痴头诵佛不成韵。每昏沉欲睡，道人以长竿击之曰，汝愚昧若此，尚不知精进耶。如是者三载。一夕，呵呵大笑，道人复击之。痴头曰，今日打我不得矣。诘其故。曰，师枯坐十八年，不知修法。若能如我老实礼念，早生西方见佛矣。道人奇之，而莫测其所谓。翌日，痴头登峭崖，西向合掌，屹立而化。阇维，得舍利二粒。（染香集）评曰，道士往生，古传罕闻。今痴头以愚昧之子，为千古特出之人。而黄冠者流，则曰，我学神仙，念佛乃愚夫所为，岂非反被聪明误耶。
