新生儿视觉偏爱(visual preferenee orneonate)因某些先天机制，新生儿从出生几个小时起就比较喜欢看某些东西，而不大喜欢看另一些东西的现象。新生儿在出生后第四天视距为30厘米，但在19厘米处看得最清楚。R.L.范茨让新生儿看线条图和靶心图、棋盘图和正方形图、交叉十字和圆形，发现新生儿看靶心图所用时间比线条图长，棋盘图比正方形图时间长，交叉}字比圆形图时间长。新生儿还偏爱清晰的图条、活动的多轮廓的图形。在其他条件相同的情况F，新生儿更偏爱看曲线，这说明新生儿喜欢看复杂的物体和形状。 (白学军撰林索德审)
