游戏元交际理论(metacommunieat，ontheory of play)贝特森提出的利;关于游戏的理论。他试图运用人类学、逻辑学和数的理论来研究游戏，揭/J<游戏的意义及其在信息交流过程中的实质。元交际是从更加抽象的理论高度研究交际，回答什么是交际，交际的起源等理论问题。贝特森认为游戏是交际的起源之。它是通向人类文化和表征世界的途径和必击的技能，是组成人类文化的现实基础，即我们利用游戏这种途径习得了东西，掌握了多层次的概念系统。在他着一来，儿童角色游戏的意义、价值不在于其具体内容，如儿童玩“过家家”的游戏，并不是在学习如何过日子，也不是学习某个特定的角色或掌握某个特定的行为方式，而是在学习关于角色的概念，在区分一种角色同另外一种角色的异同之处，了解行为方式和行为背景以及它们之间的制约关系。游戏的这种学习，在幼儿游戏中不是孤立地表现为学习一个个事物，而是在事物的关系与联系中，即在物体群体中学习，学会区分与概括。这一理论打破了传统的认识只把游戏视为发展重要品质和技能的工具和手段。提出游戏本身是有价值的，它不仅仅在文明的进化中起过重要作用，而且它本身就是进入人类的文化和表征世界的一种必需的技能。 (白学军撰王艾利审)
