| 蚕 Bombyx mori；Chinese silkworm 蚕蛾科昆虫的一种，原产中国，驯化在室内饲养，故又称家蚕。养蚕和利用蚕丝是人类生活中的一件大事，约在4000多年前中国已有记载，至少在3000年前中国已经开始人工养蚕。公元551年，有两个外国修道士把蚕茧带到欧洲。蛾体中型，雌、雄触角皆为栉齿状，雄性栉齿略长；喙退化，下唇须短小，无单眼，体翅灰白色，翅脉灰褐色。蚕吐丝结茧时，头不停摆动，将丝织成一个个排列整齐的∞字形丝圈。每织20多个丝圈（称一个丝列）便动一下身体的位置，然后继续吐织下面的丝列。一头织好后再织另外的一头，因此，家蚕的茧总是两头粗中间细。家蚕每结一个茧，需变换250～500次位置，编织出6万多个8字形的丝圈，每个丝圈平均有0.92厘米长，一个茧的丝长可达700～1500米。丝腺内的分泌物完全用尽，方化蛹变蛾。 |
