性别角色压力说(theory of sex rolestress)强调性别角色是造成个体心理压力的来源的一种男性心理学理论观点。该理论不同于男性的性别角色认同说，不注重男性角色的获得和男子气的认同。其基本主张为:(l)性别角色存在着抵触和不协调，如传统模式认为男性在智力上应优于女性，而现代模式则认为男女在智力上应平等。这种矛盾给男性造成了心理上的压力，使之无所适从。(2)大部分人违背了性别角色，因为性别角色过分理想化，脱离实际，很难做到，大部分人承受着自己是什么样的人与怎样才算符合理想角色之间的差距造成的性别角色压力。(3)男性违背性别角色比女性违背性别角色会产生更严重的后果，付出的代价要更高，产生的心理压力也更大。(4)性别角色所规定的一些性别特征事实上是不适宜的，无助于人们良好地行使自己的职责，如男性的攻击性总是与暴力、武力相联系。性别角色压力虽说是一种较新的理论观点，但还没有足够的研究资料可供检验。 (荡香熹撰高玉样审)
