超分子金属有机化学研究了金属有机化学中的超分子化学现象及其特异的物理化学性质，是属于当代化学研究的前沿课题
首次提出中性金属有机多齿配体及其配位化学的概念，通过这种配体与中性金属化合物作用，利用给体-受体键可形成全新类型的金属-金属键化合物。通过这种方法我们合成了大量异核双及多金属有机化合物，研究了它们的结构及成键模式，并对这类化合物进行了如下的物理化学性质的研究：1）利用这类化合物作为助催化剂对某些有机反应表明具有优良的助催化性能；通过这类化合物稳定了活性卡宾金属有机化合物；某些这类化合物具有新奇的长寿命和长波荧光发射；具有手性单元的这类化合物外消旋体混合物通过分步结晶可拆分成手性双金
属化合物并确定了绝对构型。2）对其它金属有机化合物与活性金属有机粒子通过弱相互作用稳定了后者并对所形成的化合物进行了结构分析。3）通过活性金
属有机化合物与小分子作用，活化了后者并对所形成的化合物进行结构分析。此外，还合成了很多具有ｐ、ｎ配体的ｃｕ、ａｇ双及多金属大环化合物、线形聚合物，研究了这些化合物中金属－金属键的弱相互作用以及翻译性能。
